7 Tips For Writing Social Media Content

There is no doubt that Social Media has become very popular over the years, and it’s a great idea to utilise it when you’ve got a business that you want to grow.

There are millions of users now that are scrolling through the various available platforms, they’re from all over the world, and they are all looking for valuable and relevant content. That’s a lot of potential custom you could have!

With that being said, how do you actually create content that impacts people and catches their attention and works for the various platforms that are out there?

Well, I’m here to share my tips with you. Let’s get started!

Writing Social Media Content

7 Tips For Writing Social Media Content

You must be writing content that caters to your potential clients/customers, especially with Social Media being so varied. Here’s how:

1 – Decide On Your Target Audience

This is an essential part of writing content that has an impact. If you don’t know the type of people whose attention you want to grab, how do you expect your content to catch their interest? The research will be the key to helping you understand more about your target audience and what kind of language will speak to them.

It’s all about writing what they care about and getting your content only to reach the people interested in what you have to say. For example, someone interested in football isn’t going to want to know about how contouring sculpts your face.

2 – Cater To Each Platform

Each Social Media platform has its own way of working and displaying content, so it’s vital to learn about each one and give content that works in the best way for the specific platform you want to use.

For example, Facebook is different from Instagram, which is different from Twitter, and so on. Take the time to really get to know the ones you want to work with, and it’ll be worth the effort to get the content right.

3 – Keep It Short And Simple

When it comes to content, people need to be drawn in quickly to read what you have to say. If they’re scrolling through Facebook and notice an essay size amount of text to read through, they’re just going to scroll straight past it.

Keeping your content on the shorter side and thinking about the wording being used will be more likely to attract someone’s attention, especially if you’ve also kept the first tip in mind and used the language that will connect with your audience.

4 – Keep The Focus On Others

Believe it or not, people aren’t that interested in YOU. They want to know what it is you can offer THEM to better their lives, business etc. It’s definitely a good idea to make it personal by using words such as “you” and “your” rather than making it all about yourself, as this will really speak to your audience and make them feel like you really care about helping them.

5 – Keep It Positive

This isn’t to say that you have to act like every single part of life is perfect, but how you word your content is important to how a reader reacts to it.

If someone comes across your page, profile or group and it’s filled with lots of negativity and moaning, then they’re not going to want to stick around. It’s much more impactful to show more positivity, inspire and help people. People want to be shown that things are possible when they might be thinking they’ve reached a dead-end in their career or life.

6 – Images Are Useful

There is no doubt that images are an important part of the content and capture someone’s attention. There’s much more chance of someone remembering content with an image included versus without an image. People only remember parts of what they’ve read from content, so you must find ways to make them remember your content, and a good way of doing that is with the use of images.

Struggle with taking photos you feel aren’t “content worthy”? No problem, there are plenty of websites out there that contain beautiful photos you can use and not have to worry about the rights to. Also, adding filters to your own personal photos will help make them look more professional. There’s so much help out there!

7 – Add A Call To Action

In my opinion, if you’re using Social Media platforms to build a following or grow your business, it’s always a good idea to have a CTA (Call To Action) included in your content.

A CTA encourages your audience to take action on something. For example, if you’ve got a marketing campaign you’re promoting in your business, you could encourage your audience to sign up for your newsletter or get them to click the link to your group to join. Think about times you’ve had emails from companies that have sent you offers or newsletters regularly. This was likely due to them using a good CTA so they could keep your interest going. Works a treat!
